The dream: Walking into a bakery and being able to have anything on the menu.

I'm Alexis, and A La Mode is that dream—my dream—brought to life!

Finding safe options while out to eat has come a long way since I was a kid, but there are still so many things that I miss out on, and that’s a feeling that anyone with an allergy knows too well.

 

A La Mode is that “OMG, finally!” place where kids and adults with allergies can walk in and pick out a sweet treat, get an ice cream cone, or order a birthday cake—some for the very first time—and that is so beyond special.

I’ve had a lot of practice baking through the gluten free and allergy friendly stigmas.

Dry, “chemically,” tasteless…the list goes on, but here, none of it's true. Whether you have an allergy or are just looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, I can personally guarantee everything at A La Mode is full of flavor.

I studied Baking & Pastry Arts at Johnson & Wales before starting my first venture in 2014. During that partnership, I had many accomplishments, learned many lessons, and met the love of my life. Unfortunately, in 2020, I was diagnosed with a severe wheat allergy. I was told it was due to overexposure by breathing in flour every day, but realistically, I probably had it my whole life and just never realized it.

 

I left my partnership, did some soul searching, and ultimately realized that my passion and purpose was to bring joy to people through food.
